WHAT WE DO
Flexitral has developed methods that allow us to predict the smell of a molecule before it is synthesized. When looking for a target compound with a specific odor, we generate a dataset of hundreds of structures. Odor character and intensity are calculated for every structure. Once a target has been identified, synthesis begins. The strategy followed by Flexitral since its creation late in 2001 is to identify the industry's most pressing needs and answer them by this rational odorant design.

An existing flavor or fragrance material may need to be replaced either because its performance is inadequate (too weak, unstable) or due to regulatory changes (allergies, environment). Flexitral is currently generating proprietary alternatives to some of the fragrance compounds on the European Union list of potential allergens (SCCNFP) whose use will be increasingly regulated in the coming years.

Flexitral is actively pursuing the development of novel high impact floral and musk aromachemicals, and of chemically stable flavor molecules.

Flexitral collaborates with two industrial partners, both leaders in their field, to produce and distribute our products. We also license our intellectual property and undertake collaborative R&D projects.
